Elements needed by an IGNOU student to calculate the Percentage
The percentage of students of IGNOU needs to be calculated on marks obtained in two areas. These areas are marks obtained in the Theory paper. The second area is the marks obtained in the Assignment submitted to the institute either at the end of the year or at the end of the semester.

Weightage of Term End Exams and Assignment
IGNOU has divided the percentage of the marks of the assignment and the Term-end examination in the following way. The percentage allotted to the assignment is 30. The assignment submission is compulsory. While the percentage allotted for the Tern End examination is 70. IGNOU conducts the Term End Examination twice a year during June and December. The student can appear in any of the Term End examinations after submitting the Assignment.

IGNOU gives its students a grading system. The grading system followed by IGNOU for your Term End Examination is as follows.

Minimum requirement for the Candidate to pass a Course from IGNOU
