Indira Gandhi National Open University offers a Master of Arts (English). The university has developed the course to provide the candidate’s exposure to the base of the language and English literature in various areas. The candidates can specialise in any particular area they want. This course focuses on the study of British, American, Indian English, and new literature in Canada and Australia.
Besides learning about the English literature produced in different countries the course also aims at developing their critical and analytical abilities. The course gives an insight to the candidates to understand the English and other literature produced in other countries from their histone-critical perspective. The programme develops and needs as a prerequisite the interest in reading, comprehension, and writing skills with analytical introspection.
