Indira Gandhi National Open University offers a Master in Arts (Psychology). The course is provided by the School of Social Sciences (SOSS). Psychology has a broad scope ranging from clinical, educational, and organisational fields to sports, military, criminal, forensic, and many others.
The course aims at providing the learners with a sound base in psychology and human behaviour through an in-depth investigation into a broad range of psychological techniques and skills as applied to diverse settings. In order to make the application of the theories easy in practical life, IGNOU has planned out eight practicals that the candidate has to do in the psychology laboratory.
An internship programme has been included in the programme which helps the candidate integrate theoretical knowledge, research, and clinical skills. The internship programme helps the candidate to acquire skills and professional acumen from under-trained practitioners in the concerned setting. Various standardized tests and scales are developed in Psychology by the candidates that can be used to measure psychological entities.
Such tests can be used to measure intelligence, personality, attitude, aptitude, adjustment, self-concept, and so on. IGNOU keeps updating the course to the latest trends.
